Agoge Barbell Club is a USA Weightlifting (USAW) sanctioned Barbell Club that operates within the walls of Crossfit Glendora. The club trains to compete in the two events that make up the sport of Weightlifting, the Snatch and Clean & Jerk. Agoge Barbell Club consists of both men and women who all commit to no less than 6 months of training upon joining the club. Athletes typically train 5 times per week, however, beginners will generally start with a 3 days-per-week program. Each athlete is provided with an individualized program that is specifically designed to address his or her needs. Agoge Barbell Club is coached by Ryan Byrnes and Matthew Sakiyama. Both coaches have trained and competed in Weightlifting for a number of years, hold Bachelor of Science degrees in Kinesiology (also, both currently pursuing Master of Science degrees in Kinesiology) and have been certified by USAW as Sports Performance Coaches.
Agoge Barbell Club team membership is $165/month. These dues include an individualized program, in-person coaching for 3 of 5 training sessions per week, coaching during competition and in preparation for competition. All Agoge athletes commit to no less than 6 months of training with the Club.
Potential Agoge athletes may train with the club for 1 free trial week.
